About TMS Therapy at Graceland Psychiatry
At Graceland Psychiatry, we offer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) an FDA-approved neuromodulation treatment for patients suffering from treatment-resistant depression, anxiety and OCD, especially when traditional medications have not provided sufficient relief. TMS uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain, targeting areas involved in mood regulation.
This advanced therapy is especially effective for Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD) and offers hope to those who are seeking an alternative to medication. Our TMS program is conducted in a safe, comfortable, and outpatient setting, allowing you to continue your daily routine with minimal interruption.

How TMS Works
At Graceland Psychiatry, we use the FDA-approved Magstim TMS Therapy system to deliver focused, non-invasive magnetic pulses to specific areas of the brain responsible for mood regulation particularly the left prefrontal cortex. This advanced system generates magnetic fields similar in strength to those used in MRI machines, delivered through a treatment coil gently positioned against the scalp. These magnetic pulses reach about 2–3 centimeters into the brain and stimulate underactive neurons that may contribute to depression.
As the pulses activate these neural circuits, they help restore balance to key neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine which are often disrupted in individuals battling depression. By jumpstarting the brain's natural healing processes, TMS offers a medication-free alternative to improving mental health. TMS is safe, well-tolerated, and doesn't involve sedation or systemic side effects. Each session typically lasts 20–30 minutes, five days a week for several weeks, and is fully supervised by our compassionate clinical team who tailor the treatment to your unique brain pattern and monitor your progress every step of the way.
Is TMS Therapy Right for You?
TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment option for adults struggling with Major Depressive Disorder, especially when traditional medications haven't provided lasting results. It's also showing promise for conditions like anxiety, OCD, and PTSD.
You may be a good candidate for TMS if:

You've tried two or more anti-depressants without consistent relief

You experience intolerable side effects from medications

You can commit to 36 sessions over 6 to 7 week period
